ILM Level 3 Award in First Line Management
- Duration:
- Minimum 34 hours guided learning hours including assessment, which may take from 5 days to a maximum of one year
- Structure and Content:
- A short induction lasting between one and two hours
- One mandatory unit with a credit value of 2
- Optional units with a minimum total credit of 3
- Assessment and associated tutorial support a minimum of two hours
- Assessment:
- The assessment of the mandatory units will be by a Work-based assignment
- The assessment of the optional units will vary depending on the units selected, a choice of: work-based assignments, reflective reviews, knowledge reviews, oral presentations, role-play/scenarios, written reports or centre-devised alternatives
- Entry Requirements:
- There are no formal entry requirements but participants will normally be practising or aspiring first line managers with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme
ILM Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management

- Minimum 120 hours guided learning hours including assessment, which may take from 15 days to a maximum of two years
- Structure and Content:
- A short induction lasting between one and two hours
- Four mandatory units with a credit value of 7
- Optional units with a minimum total credit of 13
- Assessment and associated tutorial support a minimum of four hours
- Assessment:
- The assessment of the mandatory units will be by a Work-based assignment and a Change management report
- The assessment of the optional units will vary depending on the units selected, a choice of: work-based assignments, reflective reviews, knowledge reviews, oral presentations, role-play/scenarios, written reports or centre-devised alternatives

- There are no formal entry requirements but participants will normally be practising or aspiring first line managers with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme
ILM Level 3 Diploma in First Line Management
- Duration:
- Minimum 220 hours guided learning hours including assessment, which may take from 28 days to a maximum of three years
- Structure and Content:
- A short induction lasting between one and two hours
- Nine mandatory units with a credit value of 13
- Optional units with a minimum total credit of 24
- Assessment and associated tutorial support a minimum of seven hours
- Assessment:
- The assessment of the mandatory units will be by a Work-based assignment and a Change management report plus an Innovation project and Presentation
- The assessment of the optional units will vary depending on the units selected, a choice of: work-based assignments, reflective reviews, knowledge reviews, oral presentations, role-play/scenarios, written reports or centre-devised alternatives
